Frequently Asked Questions on SurfAlert

SurfAlert is a free service that helps protect you from unexpected browsing charges. It temporarily stops your browsing when:

  • You’ve used up your data or promo

  • You’re not registered to a surf promo

  • You try accessing a site or app that isn't covered by your promo

Starting August 6, 2021, SurfAlert is automatically enabled for Globe Postpaid customers.

SurfAlert is auto-enabled for all Globe Postpaid customers for free.

For Globe Prepaid and TM customers, just text SURFALERT ON to 8080 to activate it. To check if it's already active, text SURFALERT CHECK to 8080. This service is free of charge.

Yes, absolutely! SurfAlert detects free sites and allows you to browse them without charges, even if you're not registered to a promo.

You won’t get SurfAlert notifications if:

  • You’re registered to a surf promo

  • You still have data in your plan or promo

  • You’re not using the internet

If you’re not receiving notifications, it means you’ve met one of these conditions. You can check your data balance or promo status in the GlobeOne app.

SurfAlert detects any background activity from apps that might automatically connect to the internet, even if you're not actively using data. It will block these apps from going online and notify you, so you can stop the app and avoid unnecessary charges.

Sorry, SurfAlert only works with local data promos, not roaming ones.

No! While SurfAlert is active on your postpaid account, you won’t be charged the P2/MB regular browsing rate.

SurfAlert temporarily stops your browsing, sends you a notification, and reminds you to get a promo to continue browsing without extra charges.
