Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice Over WiFi (VoWiFi) FAQs
VoLTE (Voice over LTE) lets you make voice calls over the LTE network instead of 2G or 3G.
VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi), also known as Wi-Fi Calling, allows you to make calls using a Wi-Fi connection.
Benefits of VoLTE and VoWiFi:
Better voice quality
Faster call setup
Works even if the person you’re calling doesn’t have a VoLTE-capable device
Distinct ringtone for VoLTE-to-VoLTE or VoWiFi-to-VoWiFi calls (long beep, like IDD calls)
Calls between VoLTE/VoWiFi and 2G/3G devices will have the usual ringtone.
To activate VoLTE and VoWiFi Call, you must:
Ensure that you have upgraded your SIM to LTE/5G.
Check if your device is VoLTE/VoWiFi Call capable (“What devices can be used for Globe VoLTE/VoWiFi?”)
Update to the latest OS version for your device.
Turn on VoLTE and WiFi Calling in Settings.
To turn on VoLTE
On Android phones, Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > VoLTE calls
On iOS, Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data > turn on VoLTE
To turn on VoWiFi Call:
On Android phones, Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi Calling
On iOS, Settings > Cellular > Wi-Fi Calling > Turn on Wi-Fi Calling on this iPhone
Check if any of these icons appear on your status bar to confirm successful activation.
With VoLTE and VoWiFi, you can enjoy:
Clearer voice quality
Faster call connections
Quicker text message delivery
Improved battery life for your phone
The ability to use data and make calls simultaneously
Better indoor coverage with VoWiFi
Bonus for Android users: Make video calls between VoLTE or VoWiFi devices without needing a separate app.
Postpaid customers: VoLTE and VoWiFi are available for all Globe Postpaid plans.
Prepaid customers: As of November 9, 2022, selected Globe Prepaid and TM customers are eligible. Check your text notifications for activation steps. Expansion to more Prepaid customers is ongoing.
To know if you're connected to VoLTE:
> On Android phones, you should be able to see the VoLTE icon in your home screen beside your cell signal bar.
> On iPhones, you should be able to see the LTE icon even during calls.
To know if you're connected to VoWiFi:
> On Android phones, you should be able to see the VoWiFi icon beside your WiFi signal bar.
> On iPhones, you should be able to see VoWiFi beside the Globe signal when you swipe down from the top and in your lock screen.
If your device is among the models in this list, then your device is compatible with VoLTE or VoWiFi:

To check if your software is updated for VoLTE/VoWiFi:
For Android, go to your Device Settings > Software Update, check if your device is up-to-date. If not, please update it first.
For iPhones, go to your Settings > General >> About. You'll get a message asking to install the latest OS update. After downloading this new update, simply restart your iPhone just to ensure that the installation process of all updates is done properly.
We won’t be charging additional fees for VoLTE. If you’re registered to an unlimited call promo within Globe, you can also have UNLI VoLTE calls within Globe. Your mobile data allowance will not be used up when you make VoLTE calls.
There won’t be additional charges for VoWiFi Call either. Calls over VoWiFi will be charged just like a regular call.
If you’re unable to use VoLTE, follow these steps:
Ensure your device is VoLTE-capable.
Check for software updates:
Huawei: Check the HiCare App for updates.
Apple: Go to Settings > General > About.
Samsung: Swipe down and check if VoLTE is enabled or check your settings.
Confirm your Network Mode is set to LTE.
Verify your Internet APN is set to internet.globe.com.ph.
Restart your device.
If you’re unable to use VoWiFi Call, try these steps:
Check if your device supports VoWiFi.
Ensure your software is up-to-date.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network with at least 512 kbps speed or 3 Wi-Fi bars. Use Speedtest.net to verify your connection.
Enable VoWiFi in your device settings and turn VoLTE off.
Make sure your device settings prioritize Wi-Fi over mobile networks for voice calls.
Restart your device.
If issues persist, send us a message at m.me/globeph for further assistance.
For Samsung, you may simply turn on/off VoLTE and VoWiFi by going to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks for VoLTE or > WiFi for WiFi Calling.
For Huawei, go to your Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile network for VoLTE, or > WiFi Calling
For iPhones, go to your Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data for VoLTE, or > WiFi Calling.
You need to enable your device location first and/or turn off the airplane mode.
Yes, you can use VoWiFi on any Wi-Fi connection, but for the best experience, connect to a private and secure Wi-Fi network.
Tips for reliable VoWiFi:
Avoid public Wi-Fi in malls or airports, as unreliable signals may lead to call failures.
Use a private network with a strong signal.
Requirements for VoWiFi:
An LTE SIM.
A VoWiFi-capable phone.
VoWiFi service activated on your mobile device.
If VoWiFi isn’t activated yet, you can request it via the GlobeOne app:
Go to Menu > Help & Support > Send Us Your Concern > Network Concern.
Select I want to activate my VoLTE/VoWiFi service.
