Here are some tips on managing your data usage when on Android.
Managing your data is easier when you track your usage regularly. Android's built-in data tracker lets you monitor how much data you use every 30 days.
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Select Data Usage.
Step 3: Set your data cycle and mobile data settings (ensure mobile data is turned on to see these options).
If you're a Postpaid user, you can track your data usage within your billing period. Just remember to reset your data statistics after each cycle.
App updates can use a significant amount of data. To prevent apps from updating automatically on mobile data, set updates to Wi-Fi only.
Step 1: Open the Play Store.
Step 2: Tap the Menu button (three lines).
Step 3: Go to Settings.
Step 4: Tap Auto-update apps.
Step 5: Select Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only.
Some apps run in the background and use data even when you’re not actively using them. You can restrict background data to save on mobile data.
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Tap Data Usage and scroll to see the list of apps.
Step 3: Tap on an app and check Restrict Background Data.
Note: Some apps require background data for real-time updates. Make sure you only restrict apps that don’t need constant syncing.
Limit Viber Downloads to Wi-Fi
Prevent accidental data charges by setting Viber to auto-download media only on Wi-Fi.
Step 1: Tap the Contacts icon.
Step 2: Go to Settings.
Step 3: Select Media.
Step 4: Enable Auto-download media when connected to Wi-Fi.

Optimize Viber for Minimal Data Usage
Reduce data usage further by enabling Viber’s data-saving mode.
Step 1: Tap the Contacts icon.
Step 2: Go to Settings.
Step 3: Select Media.
Step 4: Tap Restrict Data Usage.
To prevent accidental HD streaming on mobile data on YouTube, you can enable Limit mobile data usage.
Step 1: Tap the Menu button (three dots) in the upper right.
Step 2: Select Settings.
Step 3: Under Settings, go to General.
Step 4: Enable Limit mobile data usage by toggling the switch.
Turn Off Auto-Play for Facebook Videos
Videos play automatically by default, using mobile data. You can change this setting to Wi-Fi only or turn it off completely.
Step 1: Tap the Menu button (three lines).
Step 2: Select App Settings.
Step 3: Tap Videos Play Automatically.
Step 4: Choose Wi-Fi only or Never Autoplay Videos.

Turn Off Continuous Contacts Upload
Facebook can automatically sync your contacts, using data in the process. You can disable this feature.
Step 1: Open the Facebook app and tap the Menu button.
Step 2: Select App Settings.
Step 3: Tap Continuous Contacts Upload.
Step 4: Choose Wi-Fi only or Turn it Off.

Turn Off Photo Syncing
When enabled, Photo Syncing automatically uploads your mobile photos to Facebook, consuming data. You can turn this feature off.
Step 1: Open the Facebook app and tap the Menu button.
Step 2: Select App Settings.
Step 3: Tap Photo Syncing.
Step 4: Choose Don’t sync my photos.
Step 5: Tap Turn Off.
Optimize Data Usage for Music
You can minimize your mobile data usage when streaming or downloading songs from Spotify by changing the music and download quality.
Step 1: Tap the hamburger button.
Step 2: Tap the gear icon to access settings.
Step 3: Scroll down to Music Quality.
Step 4: Set Streaming to Automatic Quality .
Remember that the higher quality of music you stream or download, the more disk space it will use.
Optimize your data usage by adjusting the quality of streamed or downloaded Spotify music.
Step 1: Tap the Menu button (three lines).
Step 2: Tap the Settings icon (gear icon).
Step 3: Scroll to Music Quality.
Step 4: Set Streaming Quality to Automatic.
Note: Higher-quality music uses more data and storage space. Adjust settings based on your data plan.
